Essay About Fun & Simple Baby Shower Games

A baby shower is one of the great highlights and milestones of pregnancy. It’s a great opportunity to spend some quality time with your friends before the baby takes up much of your time, and it’s a great chance for your friends to spoil you and your unborn baby! Reward them for being there for you, and get a last chance for you all to bond, with these games.

Diaper Raffle

When you are making invitations to your baby shower, be sure to include on the invitation “Every box of diapers you bring will earn you a ticket to a raffle for a fabulous prize!” When your guests arrive and present you with diapers, put their name on a piece of paper, one for each box of diapers they bring. Toward the end of the baby shower, put all the names in a hat or bowl and draw for a prize (or two or three). This is an excellent way to get plenty of diapers, something you are sure to need in the coming months!

Forbidden word

This is a very challenging game that is played throughout the entire baby shower. When all your guests have arrived, pass out diaper pins (safety pins work as well) to all the players. Explain to them that they are, from now on, forbidden to say the word ‘baby’ for the entire shower. If a guest catches someone else say the forbidden word, they get their pin. Players can win their pins back by catching other people say the word. At the end of your baby shower, whoever has the most pins wins!

Baby Soundtrack

This game takes a little bit of preparation, but is very fun. Before the baby shower, create a playlist composed only of songs with the words ‘babe’ or ‘baby’ in them. Here is a suggestive list of the songs I used:

“Baby Boy” by Sean Paul and Beyonce

“I Got You Babe” by Sonny and Cher

“Babe I’m Gonna Leave You” by Led Zeppelin

“…Baby One More Time” by Britney Spears

“Come on Over Baby” by Christina Aguilara

“Baby by Me” by 50 Cent

“Baby Got Back” by SirMixALot

“Always Be My Baby” by Mariah Carey

“Give it to Me Baby” by Rick James

“Ice Ice Baby” by Vanilla Ice

When you’re ready to play the game, pass a pen and paper to all the players. Play a small segment of each song, and have the players write down a guess for the song title and artist. When all the songs have been played, have your guests exchange papers and grade each other-they get one point for each correct guess of title AND artist. Whoever has the most points at the end wins!

Toilet Paper Baby

This game is very simple—all you need is a roll of toilet paper! Before you begin, have your guests write down their guesses of how many squares of toilet paper it will take to wrap around you and your belly. Stand up and expose your belly and have someone wrap the toilet paper around you. Count how many squares it takes and declare the winner!

Tag Team Diaper Change

For this game, you will need a few baby dolls and all the tools needed to change a diaper. Have your guests pair up and assign them each a baby doll with all the tools they need (the baby doll should also be diapered). Have your guests hold one arm behind their back and use just the other to change the doll. (So one person in the team will use just their right hand, and the other will use just their left) Whoever changed their baby first is the winner!
